Interested in wine but not sure where to start? For newbies (and everyone in between), there’s a fun, innovative way to experiment with wine, delivered right to your door. Vinebox, a company based in San Francisco, offers beautifully presented single serve portions (in stylish test tube-like vessels no less) highlighting wines from around the world.

Each box comes with a broad range of nine selections and includes a book explaining each wine, the region it comes from, tasting notes and what’s best to pair it with foodwise. It even gives you the proper pronunciation in amusing italics.

The wines are available to order on a one-time basis, a monthly subscription or for quarterly delivery. They are organized seasonally or thematically and there’s something for every palate.

I think the mixed selections are the best as you can sample both white and red wines and with different bodies. Vinebox even inspires cooking as the food pairing suggestions might encourage you to make something you might not otherwise.

It’s also a perfect opportunity to host a tasting party. You can do it on your own or arrange to have a virtual tasting with their wine educators as they guide you and your guests through an hour long session of information and sampling.

Vinebox makes a great gift, too, for any wine enthusiast and is a delightful experience.

I was quite excited with my gift and, of course, if you find something you truly love, a full bottle is available for purchase. It’s a win(e)-win(e)!

P.S. When you’re finished with the test tubes they make ideal bud vases, either individually or collectively placed back in the box, which can then become one large vase!
