True Love Always
There’s a charming little shop on Windsor Place in Brooklyn that I stopped by the other day, lured by a rack of interesting vintage shirts under a canopied entrance. A big sign over the door declaring “True Love Always” was actually the name of the shop and inside the interior was airy and inviting, livened up by a variety of large, healthy plants worshipping the sunlight that comes in through the oversized windows. It’s a small shopfront but the eclectic product mix and floor-to-ceiling merchandising layout bely the limited square footage. The place draws you in and entices a wandering browse.
Owners Sarah Prieres and Damian Genuardi started out selling vintage clothing at the Brooklyn Flea. With their years of experience and enthusiasm, they took the leap and opened a retail shop in their home neighborhood and extensively expanded their inventory of goods.
Many of the items they sell are made in Brooklyn; and if not from here, they also source original pieces from other small artisanal makers around the United States. One of the highlights is discovering they are big fans of vinyl and the record section is filled with a wild selection of 78s that would excite any old-school enthusiast. In addition, they carry an array of art books perfect for any coffee table.
It’s a fun place to visit and the vibe is laid back, comfortable, unrushed. On the day I stopped by I met Damian, who was minding the store. Friendly and helpful, he was happy to discuss the various products and answer questions. I even got a free box of kitchen matches with my purchase!
